Yards in Buford

Buford sits on the south shore of Lake Lanier, by Buford Dam and Lake Lanier Islands. Most of the city is in Gwinnett County. Its northern part, toward Lanier Islands Parkway, is in Hall County. Recent growth has been heaviest there and along I-85.

Four creeks run through the city, Ivy, Suwanee, Richland and Big Creek, all draining to the Chattahoochee and the lake. The city asks for erosion control while land is developed and for landscaping straight after. On a new lot, that means getting sod, beds and pine straw down soon after the build.

Who we cover in Buford

Lake Lanier Landscapers works in Hall and Forsyth counties, so requests from the Hall County side of Buford go straight to a local provider.

If you are on the Gwinnett County side, send a request anyway. It is kept and passed on as soon as a provider who covers your area is available. Put your ZIP code on the request form.

Water and watering rules in Buford

The City of Buford runs its own water system. It draws water from Lake Lanier, just north of the city, and buys some from Gwinnett County. Homes outside the city limits may be on another system; your bill says which.

Georgia's rule applies: landscape watering only between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. New planting, seed and sod can be watered at any hour for 30 days after installation. As of October 2026 the state is at Drought Response Level 1, which adds no extra limits.

Yard waste in Buford

The city's leaf vacuum truck runs from November 1 to March 31 along the trash route. The rest of the year, leaves go in bags, and grass clippings are bagged all year.

The city does not collect debris from lawn maintenance or commercial tree work: the contractor or the owner has to take it away. So ask the provider whether hauling it away is part of the quote.

Buford lawn and garden questions

Do you cover the Gwinnett side of Buford?

Send a request anyway. Requests from the Hall County side go straight to a local provider; others are kept and passed on as soon as a provider who covers the area is available.

Who does the work?

An independent local provider. Lake Lanier Landscapers is a referral service run by Hometown Rise; it passes your request on and does not do the work itself.

Will the city take away lawn clippings?

Bagged clippings from your own mowing, yes. The city does not collect debris left by a lawn or tree contractor, so ask the provider to take it away.
